Θύμα επίθεσης εξαγριωμένων διαδηλωτών έπεσε στο Κλίφτονβιλ, ο βρετανός πολιτικός και αρχηγός του κόμματος Ανεξαρτησίας Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου (UK Independence Party -UKIP), Νάιτζελ Πολ Φάρατζ.

Ο ευρωβουλευτής, ο οποίος πριν από λίγες ημέρες είχε εξαπολύσει σφοδρή επίθεση κατά του Αντώνη Σαμαρά, υποστηρίζοντας πως «είναι υποκριτής και ψεύτης» δέχθηκε χτυπήματα στο κεφάλι από πλακάτ. 

Ολα συνέβησαν έξω από το ξενοδοχείο «Walpole Bay» όταν οι εξαγριωμένοι ακτιβιστές τού επιτέθηκαν φραστικά, αλλά και σωματικά, κατηγορώντας, μεταξύ
άλλων, για ρατσισμό.

Ο 49χρονος πολιτικός, ο οποίος είναι γνωστός τον δηκτικό του λόγο ενάντια στο ευρώ, φάνηκε ιδιαίτερα ταραγμένος στο βίντεο που κατέγραψε καρέ-καρέ τη στιγμή του προπηλακισμού. Αμέσως επενέβησαν οι άνδρες της Ασφάλειάς του, οι οποίοι τον βοήθησαν να εισέλθει στο ξενοδοχείο.

Ο Βρετανός ευρωβουλευτής, αργότερα δήλωσε πως «οι άνθρωποι που έχουν σκοπό να με βλάψουν, δεν πρόκειται να με σταματήσουν».iefimerida

A lot of people in Thanet want to make a stand against what he stands for."Protesters outside the Walpole Bay Hotel for UKIP leader Nigel Farage's visitProtester Shirley Marchant, from Margate, said: "We don't want UKIP in Margate - it stands for all the wrong reasons and we as a community need to stand against them."They are against all austerity and nasty and vicious with it - I'm here to stop it happening."Animal rights campaigner Mary Hyde also hoped to make her views heard.She said: "I'm here because of the fact that Nigel Farage does not intend to support eight-hour travel limits for animals being exported and he doesn't want to help us stop this evil trade."
